The Centre for Regional and Tourism Research is a self-governing R & D institution affiliated with the Regional Municipality of Bornholm. The Centre has its own governing body and the staff totals 19 employees.
The Centre has existed since 1994. Read more about the history of CRT here. Since the beginning, tourism and regional development have been the main areas of focus and Stenbrudsgården, which lies on the outskirts of Nexø, has been the geographical setting. The last couple of years the CRT has had an office in Copenhagen as well. CRT is partly financed by an annual basic grant funded by an appropriation for Bornholm-related projects under the Finance and Appropriation Act. The Danish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education (FIVU) has an agreement with the Regional Municipality of Bornholm regarding the use of this grant and CRT fulfills this agreement on behalf of the municipality. The main purpose of the grant is to secure the carrying out of research-based project activities which can contribute to regional development on Bornholm. However, the main part of the Centre’s consultancy and development activities are entirely or partly carried through based on external financing. Read our 2010-2012 Activity Report HERE
