The future and recreational areas in the Capital Region

The analysis of raw material extraction sites in the Capital Region covers a total of 59 sites with extraction permits, consisting of 44 gravel pits and approximately 15 clay pits. Of these, 14 are not yet in use. The analysis is based on the fact that extraction sites can leave significant scars on the landscape, thereby potentially damaging the landscape's utility and aesthetics, as well as local flora and fauna. At the same time, these sites are of interest in this context as they hold various potentials that can be developed and utilized in connection with the restoration of the pits once the extraction permits expire.
