‍InnoCoast was a 3-year research project (2016-2019) aimed at generating research-based knowledge to contribute to experience innovation for local businesses within nature, culture, and food tourism. The project took a multi-faceted approach to innovation, focusing on experience innovation in Danish coastal tourism—specifically, how tourist experiences are created through the interaction between tourists, tourism stakeholders, and public authorities.

InnoCoast received financial backing from Innovation Fund Denmark, and the project resulted in new business models, networks, and proposals for experience design aimed at promoting the development of nature, culture, and food tourism. This included developing suggestions for how local entrepreneurs can leverage the sharing economy and digital solutions.

InnoCoast was a collaboration between research institutions: Aalborg University (AAU), the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Roskilde University (RUC), Copenhagen Business School (CBS), and the Centre for Regional and Tourism Research (CRT); industry partners (Danish Coastal and Nature Tourism (DKNT), VisitDenmark (VDK), and the Danish Holiday Home Association (FB)); and a number of private and public tourism stakeholders. The project was sponsored by Innovation Fund Denmark. Project period: 01.03.16-01.02.19.
