Socio-economic significance of relocating state jobs to municipalities in the Region of Zealand
Authors: Nino Javakhishvili-Larsen, Jie Zhang, and Tobias Frøslev RasmussonThis project aims to analyze the socio-economic effects of the government's "Better Balance II" initiative. In this context, impact assessments have been conducted for three actions within the initiative:
- Relocation of state jobs from the Capital Region
- Inflow of state jobs to other municipalities
- Creation of new state jobs.
Furthermore, the three scenarios have been aggregated to determine the overall effect of "Better Balance II." Overall, the report shows that the relocation and creation of state jobs are relatively significant for the municipalities affected by the changes. This results in impacts, both positive and negative, on employment, value added, and income taxes. Additionally, it can be concluded that "Better Balance II" has positive effects in the Region of Zealand, the Region of Southern Denmark, the Central Denmark Region, and the North Denmark Region, with the Region of Zealand in particular experiencing the largest percentage change in terms of relocated and new state jobs.
